PE Tech was retained by a Pulp and Paper mill to complete a Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) following the upgrade to the existing woodroom. The client added a new process which incorporated a new debarker and log chipper into their woodroom. PE Tech held HAZOP workshops to facilitate identifying potential hazards within a process design process, and to review design elements from a safety perspective. Results of the workshop and analysis were compiled and delivered in a final report to the client. The HAZOP project was completed in 2022. PE Tech’s process to facilitate the HAZOP has become a corporate standard with the client.
Following the successful completion of the HAZOP, the client retained PE Tech to develop operating, maintenance, and lockout procedures for the new processes in the woodroom expansion project. Almost 50 procedures were completed in total and documented all standard conditions and guidelines for the new processes for the woodroom. The procedure phase of this engagement was completed in 2023.
